My primary area of research is Plato. Other areas include philosophy of mind and metaphysics. I'm comfortable in the history of philosophy and do my best to keep up awareness of what's going on in Anglo-American philosophy (I did my graduate work at the CUNY Grad. Center ). A very long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I studied continental philosophy. As I love philosophy in a broad sense and adore literature, studying Plato for the rest of my life will keep me quite busy. In terms of my agenda to corrupt the young (and old), I'm among those aiming to librate Plato from overly Aristotelian readings, and demonstrate that the literary aspects of the dialogues impact the philosophical content in surprising ways that you have probably not yet considered, but will be delighted to learn.
The UMD Deviant Logic Posse has informed my take on Non-Classical Logic over the past six years. Although there are a number of controversies in contemporary logic that I have yet to decide and have so much to learn, I tend to roll with the Posse about contraction-free logics and favor increasing the expressive power of our formal languages.
Note: My middle initial is "A," but I do not use it. It is NOT "S."
